Charlton vs Watford Match Preview.

12/09/2014 17:43

Watford head to The Valley tomorrow to play Charlton in the Sky Bet Championship in what will be Oscar Garcia’s first match as the Hornets new head coach. The Golden Boys will want to continue their impressive start to the season, with four wins out of five which sees them lie in second place in the table. However, Charlton will be no pushovers and have had an unbeaten start to the season with 2 wins and 3 draws which sees them occupy sixth position in the table.

During the two matches between the sides last season, both teams played out a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road in September 2013 with Yann Kermorgant putting the Addicks 0-1 up from the penalty spot but Daniel Pudil equalised for the Hornets later on. At the Valley, the Hornets were comfortably beaten 3-1 thanks to goals from Callum Harriott and Johnnie Jackson in April.

The Addick’s have been impressive so far this season and the club have beaten promotion favourites Derby County and Wigan Athletic at The Valley. Bob Peeters is the manager of the club and he was appointed over the summer after Jose Riga was allowed to leave at the end of his six month contract. The former Millwall player and Gent head coach has got the Addicks playing some good football this season and they could be one of the dark horses for a play off position, come May if they keep up there early season form.

Charlton’s danger man tomorrow will be Angolan international striker Igor Vetokele. Signed in the summer from F.C Copenhagen, the 22 year old has been one of Charlton’s star players this term, scoring 5 goals in 5 games for the Addicks which led to him being awarded the August Player of the Month in the Championship.  The Hornets defenders will have to keep a close eye on the Angolan striker who has proven that he can be deadly when given a sight of goal.

It will be another tough test for the Golden Boys tomorrow against The Addicks who cannot be underestimated. However, if Watford play as they have done so far, they stand a good chance of getting a result.

If you are not one of the 3200 orns heading to Charlton tomorrow, there are various live streams around due to the fact that the game is one of the feature games on the BBC's The Football League Show.
