McGugan Joins Sheffield Wednesday On Loan.
Lewis McGugan joined fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday yesterday on a short term loan deal until the 1st January.
McGugan has found game time hard to come by in recent weeks and has had to put up with a place on the substitutes bench. The former Nottingham Forest man has managed 7 appearances in all competitions this season for the Golden Boys.
The midfielder was a first team regular last season after signing from Nottingham Forest in the summer on a three year deal, making 37 appearances, scoring 11 goals. However, this season, the 26 year old hasn’t had the amount of game time that he would have wanted for a variety of reasons including a bust up with former head coach Beppe Sannino at the start of season, niggling injuries and the impressive form of Gianni Munari which has left him sitting on the bench for the past few games.
McGugan will now hope to use this opportunity to gain some game time in the Sky Bet Championship and to force his way back into the Hornets midfield.
The timing of the loan deal does seem strange considering that the hectic Christmas period is only around the corner. However, hopefully the Hornets have a sufficient recall clause within the deal which allows them to recall the midfielder if the Hornets suffer injuries and the midfielder will now use this to force himself back into the Golden Boys plans.
Good Luck Lewis!
