Millwall Vs Watford Match Preview.
Watford head to the New Den tomorrow in the Sky Bet Championship to play Millwall as the Hornets look to build on their 3-0 victory over Leeds in midweek. With Millwall in the midst of a relegation battle, this will be no easy game for Watford with the Lions beating play off chasers Wigan in mid-week as they desperately seek another season in the championship. The Hornets lie in 12th position in the table and could move up to 10th with Victory over the Lions depending on other results. Whereas, Millwall sit ten places below the Hornets in 22nd place however a win over Watford could see them move out of the relegation zone depending if Charlton loose. During the match earlier this season at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day, Watford ran out 4-0 winners in what was former Millwall manager Steve Lomas last match in charge. A Troy Deeney penalty sent the Hornets on their way with goals from Fernando Foretsieri, Ikechi Anya and Lewis McGugan sealed the victory where Millwall had captain Danny Shittu sent off early on and had to play over 80 minutes with ten men. Millwall are now managed by Ian Holloway who took over after Steve Lomas was sacked after the 4-0 drubbing. Opinionated Holloway has not been able to turn Millwalls fortunes around and the former Crystal Palace manager feels that the London clubs still has a mountain to clime. Holloway is an outspoken person in football and made his feelings know last season about Watford’s use of the loan system and was largely involved in the closure of this so called 'loophole' by the Football League. Although an opinionated and outspoken figure at times, Holloway is a good manager at this level having guided Crystal Palace and Blackpool to the Premier League via the Play Offs. Millwall’s key player on Saturday will be striker Steve Morrison. Tall striker Morrison has scored 7 goals this season in what has been a difficult period for the Lions. Although people may take Millwalls position for granted, this will be another difficult game in the Championship
Team News
For Millwall, Ed Upson is suspended so Holloway will have to make some changes in the Lions midfield. The lions could also be without Jermaine Easter and defneder Danny Shittu and midfielder Richard Chaplow are both out.
