Watford vs Liverpool Match Preview.

Who would have thought it four months ago that little old Watford would be entering their next two fixtures against Liverpool and Chelsea in seventh place and above both sides in the table.

But do not scratch your eyes, because this is exactly the case.

In what has been a remarkable season at Vicarage Road, Watford enter the Christmas period in seventh place in the table, just four points outside the Champions League places.

Sunday's opponents are Liverpool, who currently sit two places below the Hornets in ninth position, in what has been an inconsistent start to the season for the Merseyside club.

The Reds are managed by charismatic German, Jurgen Klopp who took over in October after former Hornets boss Brendan Rodgers was sacked up at Anfield.

Since taking charge, the former Borussia Dortmund manager has overseen seven wins in his first fourteen games in charges, including impressive victories over Chelsea, Manchester City and Southampton.

However, in recent weeks, things haven't gone to plan for the Reds, with a defeat to Newcastle and draws to West Brom and FC Sion in the Europa League, highlighting how inconsistent Liverpool have been in 2015/16.

Despite this, the Reds are most certainly a force to be reckoned with under Klopp and one player that Watford will almost certainly have to keep an eye on, is Phillipe Coutinho

The Brazilian international was signed from Inter Milan in January 2013 and he has become a fans favourite up at Anfield for his quick and skilful play.

During his time with the Merseyside outfit, he has proved himself to be one of the best wingers in the division and he has scored five goals in 18 appearances in all competitions this season. Coutinho will be an essential part of Liverpool's attacking play, so the Hornets defence will certainly have to keep a close eye on him tomorrow if they wish to secure all three points.

Sunday's fixture against the Reds will be another tough game in the Premier League despite Liverpool's recent poor results. Jurgen Klopp's side have showcased that they can beat anyone on their day and they will be hoping to get back to winning ways in front of the Sky camera's at Vicarage Road.

Quique Sanchez Flores' Watford will have to be at their best if they wish to make it four wins in a row, in what looks set to be an entertaining fixture between the two sides at Vicarage Road.

Team News

For Watford, Quique Sanchez Flores will be boosted with the news that Valon Behrami and Sebastian Prodl should be fit enough to return for the Hornets on Sunday. Tommie Hoban and Joel Ekstrand are long-term absentees.

For Liverpool, influential midfielder James Milner has been ruled out of Sunday's tie through a calf problem. Injury ravaged striker, Daniel Sturridge, is set to miss out once again, whilst Dejan Lovren has also been ruled out of this weekend's fixture. John Flannagan, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are all long-term absentees.
