Yeovil Town V Watford Match Preview.

18/02/2014 10:58

Watford head to Huish Park tonight in the Sky Bet Championship to play Yeovil Town as the Hornets look to keep up their recent good run of form. Watford lie in 12th position in the table whereas Yeovil Town lie bottom of the league and are 7 points from safety. A win for the hornets tonight could see them move up to 9th place depending on other results. During the match earlier this season at Vicarage Road, Yeovil ran out 0-3 winners thanks to goals from Byron Webster, Ishmael Miller and Joe Edwards in a game where Watford were really poor. Yeovil were deserved victors on the day and poor defending from the Hornets was the key to Yeovils win. Gary Johnson is Yeovils manager and masterminded Yeovils promotion to the championship last season. Johnson who is a former Watford youth coach returned for his second spell in charge of Yeovil in January 2012. The goals of Paddy Madden last season fired the Glovers in to the play offs and his goal in the play off final was key as the Glovers went on to beat Brentford 2-1. However, this season has been a different story. A dispute between Madden and Johnson saw the Irish striker transfer listed and was subsequently sold to League 2 side Scunthorpe in January. The Glovers have found in difficult in the Championship this season and have found goals hard to come by. Their top scorers are James Hayter and Ishmael Miller with 5 goals each. The key player for Yeovil tonight will be Nottingham Forest loanee Ishmael Miller. Miller has scored 5 goals for Yeovil this season, and caused Watford a variety of problems in the match between these sides earlier this season. With the Hornets in good form at the moment and Yeovil desperate to beat the drop, it could be a interesting game between these two sides this evening.

Team News.

For Yeovil, defender Liam Davis and striker Sam Foley are both doubts and are unlikely to feature. Striker Kieffer Moore should keep his place in the side after impressive performances of late.

For Watford, Beppe Sannino welcomes back Manuel Almunia, Joel Ekstrand, Essaid Belkalem and Mathias Ranegie who all return from injury. Lloyd Doyley is a doubt after limping off at half time against Middlesbrough through injury. Fernando Forestieri could also be a doubt after tweeting last night that he will be watching his team mates and that he hopes to be back soon. Fitz Hall, Lewis McGugan and Almen Abdi are all out.
