Yeovil V Watford Match Preview.

31/12/2013 16:50

Watford travel to Huish Park tomorrow ( New Years Day) to play Yeovil Town in the Sky Bet Championship in a match which will be televised by Sky Sports with the Hornets looking to avenge the 3-0 defeat inflicted by Yeovil at Vicarage Road on the 30th November. Yeovil currently lie in 23rd place 4 points from safety whilst the Hornets currently sit in 13th 5 points off the play offs. If the Hornets win tomorrow and results go their way, they could move up three positions to 10th. As mentioned previosuly, Yeovil beat Watford 3-0 at Vicarage Road in November thanks to goals from Byron Webster, Ishmael Miller and Joe Edwards. Despite Watford dominating possesion, they couldnt break through and wasted the opportunitys that came their way whilst Yeovil took the chances that came their way and defended resolutley. The Glovers are managed by former Watford player and youth team director Gary Johnson. This is Johnsons second spell in charge of Yeovil after taking back over in January 2012 and guided the Glovers to promotion last season after a 2-1 victory of Brentford in the Play Off final. The Glovers have found it harder to adapt to life in the Championship this season and havent been able to build on their opening day win over Millwall. The key man for Yeovil tomorrow will be Nottingham Forest loanee Ishmael Miller. Miller caused Watford a great deal of problems during the match earlier this season with Nyron Nosworthy and Joel Ekstrand failing to deal with the aerial presence of the big striker. He scored during the 3-0 win and has notched two more goals since taking his goals tally to 3 in a Yeovil shirt. However since Guiseppe Sannino has taken over the reigns at Vicarage Road, the Hornets defence has improved massivly and have only conceded one goal since the Italians arrival which was a penalty during the 1-1 draw with Ipswich. With the Hornets improving under Sannino and Yeovil looking to get out of the relegation zone, it looks set to be a exciting game tomorrow at Huish Park.

Team News.

For Yeovil, midfielder Ed Upson and goalkeeper Marek Stech are doubts and will be assessed before kick off. Everton loanee Shane Duffy can play after extending his loan deal whilst Byron Webster has recovered from a hamstring injury.

For Watford, Fernando Forestieri and Ikechi Anya are both doubts for the golden boys. Daniel Pudil, Davide Faraoni, Almen Abdi, Essaid Belkalem and Tommie Hoban are all out.
