Lithuanian international goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis joined the Hornets in June 2015, following his departure from Steaua Bucharest. He joined following a successful season in Romania with Steaua Bucharest, where he won the Liga 1, Romanian Cup and the Romanian League cup and also featured during the club’s exploits in the Champions League Play Off’s and Europa League, making 40 appearances in the process. Arlauskis has been capped at international level by Lithuania, featuring against England during the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, where he impressed despite his nation losing 4-0 to the Three Lions. He started off his career in his native Lithuania with Šiauliai, before joining Romanian outfit Unirea Urziceni, where Arlauskis won the Liga 1, Romania’s top division. Over the course of three years, he made 67 appearances before moving to Rubin Kazan. Arlauskis had a turbulent time in Russia, having to play second fiddle to the clubs number one, but did manage to gain some more experience in the Europa League. He left Rubin Kazan ahead of the 2014/15 season and signed for Steaua Bucharest on a one-year-deal and was to be the Romanian side’s number one, as they won Liga 1 as well as the Romanian Cup and League Cup. Despite a successful season in Romania, Arlauskis rejected the offer of a new contract, and the Hornets moved quickly in order to secure his signature. The Lithuanian international goalkeeper was to make his Watford debut during the 1-0 defeat to Preston North End in the Capital One Cup.
